Apologies

Hello. Apologies to people who attempted to access this site while it was down. I hope that it has come back with everything where it should be.

Today I have posted the first in a series of commentaries on the current state of efforts to link reading research and reading education (classroom practices, curricula, teacher education). These are more like an article than a series of blog posts (unless you like blog posts with footnotes!). This isn’t really a blog; I obviously don’t manage it like one; it’s a repository for comments, presentations, slide decks, articles and other materials.

I passed a couple of milestones recently: I turned 70 and retired from my academic job. I don’t feel 70, but even if 70 is the new 60, it’s a pretty big number. Retiring means I won’t be teaching, supervising graduate or undergraduate students, or attending faculty meetings, after more than 40 years of doing so. I am not going away, but I’m not going to be on call to put out fires on the internet, either.
